FRESHMAN COACHES
DAN SHELL | HEAD COACH
Head Coach Shell is in his 16th year of coaching football, the past 12 as a Knight. He takes pride in his role as coach, seeing kids develop confidence and realize their potential. He feels his job is to help raise up young men who will be leaders in their homes, school, and community. In the spring he changes hats and is the head coach of our JV baseball team. He and his wife Anita enjoy listening to his favorite song “The Gambler” by Fun. and being parents to children Emily, Andy, and Madi. His is spare time Coach Shell enjoys traveling, playing golf, surfing and spending time with his family.
GARY FISHEL | ASSISTANT COACH
As a coach at Foothill for over 24 years, Coach Fishel has had much success as a Knight! In his current role coaching the Freshman QB’s and wide receivers, Coach Fishel works hard to ensure players become better on and off the field. His philosophy is for players to “get comfortable with the uncomfortable.” Coach Fishel and his wife Suzanne are proud parents to sons Mason and Derek. He finds happiness in his off time playing golf, or listening to his favorite song “Piano Man” by the one and only Billy Joel.
ALEX SANCHEZ | ASSISTANT COACH
Coach Sanchez is in his 28th year as a high school football coach, the last 6 with us at Foothill. Coach Sanchez says the best part about coaching is teaching young players life lessons through football. He wants them to have a strong work ethic and never give up attitude while being happy, having confidence and integrity, and being good friends and teammates. His philosophy is that there are ten things that require zero talent: being on time, work ethic, effort, body language, energy, attitude, passion, being coachable, doing extra, and being prepared! We agree! In his off time, Coach Sanchez embraces the time he spends with his family – his wife Abby, sons Luke and Seth, and daughter Xale.
MIKE BOHEN | ASSISTANT COACH
Coach Bohen is in 5th year coaching at Foothill. He brings his talent from coaching and playing to our Knights, with the desire to always put the kids in places that they can grow and be successful. His desire to develop quality young men is a valuable asset to our program. He has his wife Jennifer enjoy spending time together with their dogs, and Coach Bohen will tell you he’s not afraid to sing during practice if Coach Shell puts on the right music!
