ATHLETIC TRAINING

What is athletic training? Athletic training encompasses the prevention, examination, diagnosis, treatment and rehabilitation of emergent, acute or chronic injuries and medical conditions.

WHAT ARE ATHLETIC TRAINERS?

In High School, Certified Athletic Trainers (ATC) are certified and licensed health care professionals who practice in the field of sports medicine and provide comprehensive health care services to athletes, including preventive preparation, evaluation of illnesses and injuries, first aid and emergency care, rehabilitation, and other related services.

Athletic Trainers are responsible for the well-being of Student-Athletes, evaluate injuries, monitor injury rehabilitation, and consult with physicians and coaches to ensure that students are following safety protocols and can be integral to the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of athletic injuries.

OUR ATHLETIC TRAINER AT FOOTHILL IS:

Certified Athletic Trainer: Kat Ramirez

WHAT IS ATHLETIC CLEARANCE?

Athletic clearance is a process required by the CIF which includes obtaining a physical from a health practitioner, providing contact and medical information, and signing statements acknowledging the risks of participating in sports, etc. All returning and incoming athletes must have completed the Athletic Clearance process before they can participate in any summer and/or school-year sports activities.

The Athletic Clearance is valid for one year and must be repeated on an annual basis. Failure to renew the Athletic Clearance prior to summer will result in the student not being able to participate in any summer and/or school-year activities at Foothill. Participation is only allowed after the Athletic Clearance has been approved by one of Foothill's Athletic Directors.

All students must process their Athletic Clearance online at: www.AthleticClearance.com
Select: Foothill/Santa Ana (CIF-SS)
